You can use discounted gift cards to purchase almost everything on the Walt Disney World and Disneyland websites INCLUDING resort stays!
This tip is available to all Disney guests going to Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, or Disney Cruise Line. PAY WITH GIFT CARDS! Many big box retailers will give percentage off gift cards purchased at their store. You can also purchase online gift cards using the same trick. I have used this trick on all my recent vacations to see the mouse.
I know 1-5% doesn’t sound like a lot of money, but when you are spending thousands on your Disney vacation it really does add up. I have now gotten in the habit of purchasing Disney gift cards every time that I’m shopping at SAMS Club, Target or Kroger. Kroger doesn’t give you money off your gift card purchase, but they DO usually give you double points on gift card purchases for money off of gas.
Disney will usually only use 3 gift cards at a time when making an online purchase so to make those big purchases it is smart to consolidate gift cards. Each gift card can hold up to $1,000. To consolidate your gift cards, you will need to go to disneygiftcard.com and click on my cards. After signing in you can move the entire amount of one gift card to another card, but please be careful in this process and track what you are doing. You must transfer the entire amount as it will not let you just transfer a portion. This is much nicer than carrying around 20 gift cards (we have done it before unfortunately) with no idea the balance on any of them.
BJ’s Wholesale Club – BJ’s offers around 4% off with a $100 gift card costing 95.99
Sam’s Club – Sam’s usually gives around 3% off. Instead of telling you the percent they will usually show amounts. Right now, you can purchase a $500 Disney gift card for $484.98
Target – Target offers 5% off when using a RedCard on your purchase of anything including gift cards.
All of these discounts require memberships to either a credit card or a club. BJ’s does offer customers a 24 hour trial for free where you could technically stock up on all of the gift cards needed for your vacation.
